SHIVALK DLX EXP, Himalayan Queen, and KLK SML EXP are some of the most famous trains people prefer to take from Chandigarh. There are also direct trains from several cities to Shimla. So choose the train convenient for you. By Flight: The Chandigarh Airport is the nearest airport from Shimla, which is 120 km from here. You can take a flight to Chandigarh and take a bus or train to Shimla. The Rupin Pass is only open during the summer and autumn as it is at 15,000 feet. So most people prefer to go on this trek from mid-May to the end of June. So you can take short breaks throughout the trek and enjoy. As this trek is of moderate difficulty, most people can efficiently complete it. Rain Rains start early July until mid September. Approach road landslides common in late August and early Sep. Usually repaired in a few days.
Snow High snow in May from Saruwas Thatch onwards (3 days of the trek has considerable snow). Decreases in June.Comfortable snow during the last half of June. September has little snow. In the first week of October, the first winter snow is likely to fall in the upper reaches. Usually melts in a few days.

Getting to Dhaula: 1. Dhaula can be reached by a private vehicle from Dehradun. 2. The other way to get there is to take a bus from Dehradun to Sankri, get off at Naitwar and take a shared jeep to Dhaula. The bus from Dehradun leaves at 5.30 am from Gandhi Road, just outside the railway station. 3. If you are taking a taxi the route is Dehardun -- Mussoorie -- Damta -- Nowgaon -- Purola -- Mori -- Naitwar -- Dhaula. It is a 10 hour long, but lovely road journey. 4. If you prefer trains you can also take an overnight train from Delhi to Dehradun.

Itinerary For The Rupin Pass Trek
DAY 1 : Rohru to Jiskun: Reach the Rohru village in Shimla to start the trek! [213 KM]
● Reach Rohru, a small Shimla village around 207 km from Chandigarh.● In Rohru, enjoy a delicious breakfast and take a taxi to Jiskun, which is 81 km from here.
● Enjoy the scenic route and take short breaks to enjoy the view.
● In Jiskun, find campsite accommodation, and get ready to explore the nearby area.
● Later in the evening, enjoy your dinner and discuss with your guide the itinerary for tomorrow.
● Now it's time to head back to your tent and sleep for the night.
DAY 2 : Jiskun to Jhaka: Explore some traditional villages of Himachal!
● Now, eat some filling breakfast and get ready to hike.
● Today you will cross some traditional villages of Himachal, so you can interact with locals to learn some fun stories about the place.
● You will hike for six to seven hours to complete the distance of 8.7km.
● Carry a hiking pole, as the trails can be challenging for you.
● After you Jhaka, find a campsite accommodation and get settled.
● You will spend your night here, so enjoy an early dinner and return to the tent to rest.
DAY 3 : Jhaka to Saruwas Thatch: Walk through the meadows and enjoy the view!
● Start your day with a delicious breakfast.● You will travel for 7.10 km to reach a height of 10,770 feet.
● The trails will take you through the fir forest, and you will love exploring this area.
● As you walk further, you will have to walk a slight downhill where you will walk by the Rupin River.
● Enjoy walking through the valley covered with dwarf rhododendrons.
● When you are about to reach the Saruwas Thatch, you will see a lot of meadows.
● After you reach your destination, find campsite accommodation and explore.
● Spend another meal under the starry sky, and enjoy a quiet night here.
DAY 4 : Saruwas Thatch to Dhanderas Thatch: Click some fantastic pictures in the flowery valley!
● Today will be a short trek as you will hike only for 3 km to reach the height of 11,700 feet.● You will walk on one of the most beautiful trails in Himachal.
● During the summers you will see meadows filled with beautiful flowers, whereas in the autumn you can enjoy nature turning yellow and orange.
● After you reach Dhanderas Thatch, find camp accommodation at the lower part of the Rupin waterfall.
● Spend time in the evening and end your day with some tasty food under the starry sky.
DAY 5 : Dhanderas Thatch to Upper Waterfall: Spend another night under the limitless starry sky!
● Today you will walk for 2.4km to reach a height of 13,275 feet.● Eat breakfast and get ready to walk up to the waterfall's top.
● If you travel during the winters, you will walk through the snow-covered bridge.
Whereas during the autumn, the trails get slippery. So always keep a hiking pole handy during this trek.
● When you reach the height of the Upperfall, find campsite accommodation near the waterfall.
● Spend some time exploring the area and click amazing images.
● End your day with some tasty dinner by the bonfire. After which, you return to your tent and rest for the night.
DAY 6 : Upper Waterfall camp to Rupin Pass: Stay near the waterfall!
● Start your day early, around 3 am, as you will have to trek for 7.4km to reach the height of 13,005 km.● Today you will hike to the main destination of the trek, so get excited to enjoy an incredible view.
● It will be a challenging trek to the Rupin Pass, so keep your hike slow and enjoy the scenic view.
● The trails will take you through the iconic Rupin Gully, and you will get a fantastic view of the Himalayas.
● You will reach Rupin Pass early in the morning to enjoy the incredible view till afternoon.
● After exploring Rupin Pass, it is time to continue your hike to Ronti Gad.
● You will spend your night in Ronti Gad, so find a tent as soon as you reach here.
● Spend your evening near the campfire, and listen to some local stories.
● At night head back to your tent and sleep as you start your return journey tomorrow.
DAY 7 : Ronti Gad to Sangla: The last day of the trek!
● Next, power up your body with some delicious breakfast and get ready to trek for 11.9 km.
● The trails are steep to the Sangra village.
● You will walk through the lush green grasslands to click some awesome pictures today.
● You will walk to the River Baspa, where your hike will end for this trip.
● You can enjoy a delicious lunch here, and get ready to head back to Shimla.
● After reaching Shimla, you can plan your day trip. You can choose to stay at Shimla or head back to Chandigarh, from where you can get a taxi, bus, train, or flight home.
Everything You Must Know Before Going On The Rupin Pass Trek
1. As it is a long trip, you can prepare to walk for many days. So start by going for a few km each day. 2. Carry government-issued identity proof during this trek.3. Make all your booking in advance to make your hike more comfortable.
4. Don't forget to carry at least two water bottles of 1 litre each and keep them refilled.
5. Keep a first aid kit, and mosquito repellent.
6. You must get a full body test before the trek to know whether you are fit to go on this trek.
7. People with a blocked nose or heart problems should avoid going on this trek.
8. Discuss the route with your guide and know about the procedure during an emergency.
